Grants

The Foundation disburses grants and awards through all levels of the educational experience, from lower to upper grades. Just some of the unique programs that have been funded include:

• Learning through Living -students and teachers attended a total immersion Spanish program in Zacatecas, Mexico.

• Reading is Primary - a program to allow high school students to improve reading skills by reading aloud to primary school students, stressing to both groups the importance of reading and succeeding.

• Sculptural Jewelry - an upper level hands-on arts program for students to study with a master jeweler. Students ware exposed to a variety of occupational and instructional opportunities.

• Science Matters - developed by the Texas Science Center in collaboration with the TEA, the program prepares the young students at the Live Oak Learning Center for a lifelong interest in science.

• Math in My World - an innovative program that motivates and excites elementary students about the world of math.

• Taking it to the Streets! Bringing Literature Home - teachers and students explore a program for elementary students,  that encourages the whole family to become engaged in reading and thus opening the door for future academic successes.

• Virtual Visions - a program to clarify and instruct on the uses of web based information and the internet. By learning to navigate the internet properly students will be able to learn and demonstrate their knowledge confidently.

Prize Patrol

Grants supporting innovative and creative educational programs are awarded directly to staff and students within the Aransas County ISD by the Foundation's Prize Patrol. The work of the Foundation has been recognized by State Representatives, other foundations and by corporate donors. Surprising teachers with grants to advance educational excellence… That's what the Prize Patrol is all about! Board the bus, wisit the schools and share this rewarding experience with members of the board, the community, and the school district. It's fun, exciting and makes a difference.
