The 2011 Education Foundation GRANTS AWARDED

We had a fun and rewarding time at the schools. A total of $153,181.65 was awarded in grants on May 5, 2011. Bringing our total for School Year 2010-2011 to $178,181.65.

We also awarded our Shining Star Scholarships in May 5, 2011.

Sliding into Language

Description: This grant would purchase materials to engage students in effective language instruction that improves their articulation, voice, fluency, speaking, listening, and language comprehension skills.  The Reader will provide an effective vocal mirror which supports phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, language and comprehensions skills.

Science to Go

Math, Math, Math…Getting our hands on Math!

Manufacturing Trades Expansion

Manufacturing Trades Expansion

Description: Special Grant to expand the existing manufacturing facilities at the high school to meet local manpower demand by partnering with the Craft Training Center in Corpus Christi, upgrading existing facilities and equipment to meet industry standards, and providing all RFHS students with an opportunity to earn National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification.  This project will provide all students an opportunity to learn job skills and earn certification in those specific fields where Coastal Bend industry will need qualified employees in specific fields.

Amount: $78,740.00

Learning from the Past

This extensive research allows students to become experts in their field of study, to produce creative products such as papers, exhibits, performances, videos, and websites, to defend their research before experts, and to learn valuable life skills such as team building, responsibility, analysis, critical thinking, and presentation/interaction with experts on their topics.

Rockport-Fulton Middle School

Partners in Career Exploration

Description: Special Grant for at-risk middle school students to participate in a two week program at the Craft Training Center in Corpus Christi.  Here they will have hands-on experiences while they explore over 30 different career paths.
